In 1942, Darwin faced the horrors of World War II, enduring devastating Japanese air raids. Amid the destruction, the cathedral stood firm, though not unscathed.\n\nThe cathedral's resilience was tested again in 1974, when Cyclone Tracy unleashed its fury upon Darwin. The powerful storm ravaged the city, leaving destruction in its wake. Christ Church Cathedral, too, felt the brunt of Tracy's wrath. All but the front wall and portico were destroyed.\n\nYet, like the community it serves, the cathedral refused to yield. In the aftermath of Cyclone Tracy, amidst the rubble and debris, a spirit of renewal emerged.
