Look around, can you feel the serene atmosphere hinting towards something culturally significant? You've got it right; we are standing in front of the Nepali Temple, one of the hidden gems of Varanasi.\n\nLet's take a moment to admire the intricate, wooden marvel before us. This might surprise you, but the wood used in the construction of this temple happens to originate from a single tree! Can you imagine that?\n\nThis temple is an ideal representation of the architectural grandeur that our culture has to offer. Every curve and line carved into the walls tell tales of hardship and dedication of the Nepalese artisans who tirelessly worked on it for months. As many of you have an interest in photography and architecture, this temple is a goldmine. Please feel free to focus your lenses and capture the beauty, you won't find such detail easily on the internet!\n\nDo you see the structure surrounding the main shrine? Its resemblance to the famous Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal is not a co-incidence. King Rana Bahadur Shah, the then King of Nepal, sought refuge in Varanasi and commissioned its construction in 1843. The temple serves as a fascinating link spanning two nations, cultures, and epochs.\n\nNow, with your permission, let's move a little closer. I'm sure our history buffs would be thrilled to know that despite its heritage, this temple miraculously stayed unscathed during the 1934 earthquake that devastated much of Nepal. Isn't that fascinating!\n\nAs we stand here, amidst the hustle-bustle of Varanasi, surrounded by the tranquility of the Nepali Temple, I challenge each of you to find the miniature depictions of episodes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata that are fading into the woodwork. It's like a treasure hunt for a story inscribed through time!\n\nDon’t forget to notice the beautiful ghats adjoining the temple. As per tradition, once you've paid your respects at the temple, devotees and tourists alike descend these steps to take a holy dip or offer prayers.\n\nAfter you've taken it all in, signal when you're ready, and we'll slowly make our way out and continue our exploration of this spiritually rich city. Next, we'll be walking through the Kashi Corridor, where our journey continues. But till then, soak in the unique aura and scenery of this Nepalese wonder hidden away in Varanasi's heart.\n\n"}]},{"address":"Manikarnika Ghat - Manikarnika Mahashamshan Ghat","ttsFile":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FPbf7anD1XrCDjyp2WFSw%2Ftts_2.mp3?alt=media&token=54b22328-4eeb-48b2-8633-0e74067051d4","placeId":null,"location":{"longitudeDelta":0.1161718275106547,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":25.310915357510257,"longitude":83.01408905000001},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"Ladies and Gentlemen, as we tread on the timeless grains of sand in the city of Varanasi, we find ourselves standing at the most sacred cremation ground in India – The Manikarnika Ghat. Doesn't it seem astonishing how what we perceive as the end of life could hold such sacredness for a civilization so ancient and enlightened?\n\nThe name Manikarnika derives from the earring worn by Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism. Legends say, during a vigorous dance performance, Shiva's earring fell into the well here, and hence, the place came to be known as Manikarnika, 'Mani' meaning gem and 'Karnika' meaning ear. Isn’t it captivating how names hold stories within themselves?\n\nWhile we commonly associate death with mourning and grief, here at Manikarnika Ghat is a place where death is celebrated. The flames that leap upwards are seen as a liberation of the soul, leaving the cycle of life and death behind. Close your eyes for a moment and listen to the prayers that rise with the smoke – do they not resonate with the eternal cycle of life and death?\n\nFor over three millenia, this place has been a silent witness to the burning pyres - an ancient tradition in Hinduism. It's believed that being cremated here provides Moksha, a release from the cycle of birth and death. Look around and see the families, offering their last rites with an innate serenity and acceptance, unlike any you might have seen.\n\nBefore we move on, I'd like to share a personal story that always leaves me awestruck. Once, while leading a tour like this, I met an elderly woman who told me that she had come to die in Varanasi, just to be cremated here at Manikarnika Ghat. The profound faith and immense peace on her face continue to remind me of the divine acceptance of death that this place instills in the heart of its visitors.\n\nAs we stand here, you may notice the regularity and normalcy of the proceedings. You might see men, known as 'Dom Raja,' who consider it their sacred duty to tend towards the everlasting fire. This fire, my dear friends, is said to have been burning continuously for thousands of years. Quite a fact to take back home, isn't it?\n\nOnce you have imbibed the essence of Manikarnika Ghat, we will continue our walk along the river, towards our next stop. Feel free to ask any questions, capture some pictures or just take in the solemn beauty around you. Remember, it's not about rushing to the next spot; it's about understanding and experiencing the deep-seated mysteries and traditions this city offers. So, take your time, and when you’re ready, we will move on to uncover more of what Varanasi has in store for us. Fear not, the journey has just begun!\n\n"}]},{"address":"Kashi Labh Mukti Bhawan","ttsFile":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FPbf7anD1XrCDjyp2WFSw%2Ftts_3.mp3?alt=media&token=5535ec5e-23da-43ef-868e-24b3aa289a55","placeId":null,"location":{"longitudeDelta":0.1161718275106547,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":25.31007955751,"longitude":83.00500625000001},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"Ladies and Gentlemen, as we traverse the fascinating city of Varanasi, I welcome you to our next intriguing stop - Kashi Labh Mukti Bhawan. Who here has ever wondered about the mystic relationship between life and death? Well, you're in for an unparalleled experience as this house is known to aid in life's ultimate transition - death. Interesting, isn't it?\n\nContinuing our cultural exploration, our Free Heritage & Spiritual Walking Tour graces the doorstep of an extraordinary locale in Varanasi, giving a whole new definition to our perception of life and death. Situated amidst the clatter and humdrum of life, Kashi Labh Mukti Bhawan is an astonishing spiritual boarding house where people come with a unique purpose. They believe spending their last days here can attain Moksha or liberate the soul from the cycle of birth and death.\n\nSo folks, take a closer look. As we stand here, observe the quaint aged sandstone façade. The weight of countless stories etched in its structure speaks of many a closed chapter of human existence. Can you feel that connection, the echoes of thousands of souls that once resided here, waiting for their journey towards liberation?\n\nDoes anyone know of the origins of this mystical place? Well, the founder, Raghunath Bhattacharya, believed in the power of Vishwanath – the god of varanasi, who liberates his followers. He built this edifice in 1908, and since then, around 15000 souls have found peace here.\n\nOn a lighter note, Kashi Labh Mukti Bhawan reminds me of a humorous incident. Once a man, believing his end was near, checked in to experience his final journey. The days passed, but the man seemed healthier. Realising he was not ready to go yet, he checked out and walked back to his normal life, leaving everyone amused!\n\nNow, let's engage ourselves in a stimulating activity. Look around and find the oldest tree in the vicinity—whose roots, almost metaphorically, seem to connect life and death, a spectacle representing continuity amidst the inevitable cease.\n\nKashi Labh Mukti Bhawan may make us ponder upon the mysteries of existence, but it's a vital cog in the life-cycle, revered by the inhabitants of Kashi. Just imagine, more than a century of life transitioning stories hidden within the walls of this place!\n\nOnce you've absorbed this incredible experience, we'll head towards our next stop. The streets of Varanasi have countless marvels waiting for us. Signal when you're ready to continue our intriguing journey! But we have yet to explore the spiritual heart of Varanasi, the Kashi Vishwanatha Temple. \n\nGather around, my friends, and let me uncover a tale that dates back to 1780, a tale embedded in the very foundation of this holy temple. Commissioned by Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar, a formidable queen known for her wisdom and benevolence, the Kashi Vishwanatha Temple stands testament to her devotion to Lord Shiva. Do you see the tall, imposing spire over there? That's moulded with a ton of pure gold, folks, under the patronage of the Sikh Maharaja Ranjit Singh. \n\nAre you all wondering what the intricate carvings tell? These are the tales of ancient epics, of gods and goddesses so beautifully etched in stone! Remember to keep your camera close at hand; these carvings are a photographer's delight.\n\nAs we stand here in the sanctity of this holy shrine, can you feel the omnipresent serenity? Let's breathe in the positive energy that flows in abundance, just close your eyes, breathe, and feel the tranquility. You might not find this serenity just by googling Kashi Vishwanatha online.\n\nA fun task for you all! Try to spot the structure housing a well, known as the Jnana Vapi. It is believed that Lord Shiva himself created this well during a great fire. Can you see it?\n\nJust look around us at the multitude of devotees. They come from far and wide, believing that Kashi Vishwanatha is the ultimate path to Moksha, the ultimate liberation. Just imagine, this belief is as colourful and diverse as the people of India!\n\nSoak in the marvel of Kashi Vishwanatha Temple, my dear friends. Once you've taken it all in, we'll move on to our next fascinating destination, the Kashi Corridor.
