It was originally a restaurant dish that eventually found its way to downtown Shanghai eateries.\n\nWhen you order a meal, you will receive a box with eel and noodles served in different compartments. Hot eel, dipped with sweet and salty soy sauce. The noodles are cold, allowing you to combine two ingredients to create your own balance of flavors.\n\nFor cold eel noodles, head to Yellow River Road Food Street or Wujiang Road Food Street. Both locations tend to have a few vendors serving this savory meal."},{"type":"link","content":"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezaWd48m37c"}]},{"address":"Jia Jia Tang Bao","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":31.23455730963053,"longitude":121.47076795},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"# Steamed Crab"},{"metadata":{"width":1000,"height":777},"type":"img","version":1,"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FuRy7cGqqQgimq2KslRzx%2F2019-10-09-05-54-34-d554da87a6ceb1c142a2483ceacdd0bb.jpg?alt=media&token=cd46e73a-995b-4c23-9a0a-6ef44d6e5cdb"},{"metadata":{"width":1000,"height":664},"type":"img","version":1,"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FuRy7cGqqQgimq2KslRzx%2F10031872183_0b535ac2ed_b.jpg?alt=media&token=7dca1281-4c69-489e-873c-8f96fcc918d8"},{"type":"text","content":"If you only have one dish in Shanghai, leave it like this: Xiao long bao.\n\nSoup dumplings - or XLB, as some of my friends call them - is the city where pizza is New York. When you're there, they're simply a must.\n\nWhen the travel book took me to Shanghai earlier this year, I was determined to hunt for the best in the city. Many times, I still hear about Jia Jia Tang Bao, a small place that locals and foreigners alike seem to love.\n\nSo on my last morning in Shanghai we regrouped and defied the gray drizzle to get to Huang He Lu…\n\n\nThere are a few places selling dumplings along Huang He Lu, a street lined with small shops selling ordinary street food.\n\nJust look for stores that have lines outside."},{"type":"link","content":"https://thetravellingsquid.com/2019/06/16/jia-jia-tang-bao-in-shanghai-for-good-xiaolongbao/"}]},{"address":"Rice Cafe","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":31.236631559631324,"longitude":121.5437723},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"# Ci Fan Tuan"},{"metadata":{"width":600,"height":399},"type":"img","version":1,"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FuRy7cGqqQgimq2KslRzx%2Frice-rolls-9.jpg?alt=media&token=cbf9e822-06c8-45c8-b356-edf2dc29813f"},{"type":"text","content":"Ci Fan Tuan is a type of sticky rice roll that originates from Shanghai and comes in two varieties – sweet or savoury.\n\nThe Shanghai breakfast rice rolls include glutinous rice, duck egg, and youtiao. Youtiao is a type of deep-fried breadstick, resembling a churro.\n\nWith the traditional savoury version, the cook wraps the ingredients into a ball, along with a few extra items, such as chopped pickles. It was originally from Nanjing, but the people of Shanghai love their breakfast dishes.\n\nWith jianbing , you get \"Jian\" eggs served on top of \"Bing\" breadcrumbs. First, the cook throws some dough into the fryer.\n\nWhen the dough begins to crack and bubble, the cook will spread an egg over each piece of dough before turning the cake over.
