The first sod was turned 23 October 1943. Stage one was completed in December 1949. Stage two was completed in March 1958 raising the wall height to 110 feet with a spillway level at 100 feet. Stage three began in 1954 involving pipeline connection to the lower Blue Mountains including a 1,100 meter tunnel under Hampton where the pipeline crosses the Great Dividing Range. The catchment area is 54 square miles and has a Storage capacity of 10,000 million gallons, with storage level 1,150 meters above sea level.
