Merimbula Shipwreck"},{"type":"text","content":"Welcome to the S.S. Merimbula, where history meets the ocean. As I stand here looking out at the crystal blue waters, I can almost see the ghostly outline of the ship making its way across the waves. Did you know that the S.S. Merimbula was once the largest vessel to sail the New South Wales South Coast? That's right, this 256-foot long steamship was once the pride of the coast, ferrying passengers and goods between Sydney and the sleepy seaside town of Merimbula. Today, the ship may be gone, but the history and charm of this landmark live on.\n\nAs a famous person once said, 'The sea, once it casts its spell, hold one in its net of wonder forever.' The S.S. Merimbula embodies that spellbinding power with its rich history, stunning views, and memorable character. Standing here, I can feel the sun on my face, hear the gulls in the air, and smell the salty sea air. It's truly a sensory experience that will captivate visitors from all over the world.\n\nSpeaking of captivation, let me tell you a secret: there's a hidden gem right in front of us. Take a moment to look down and you'll see the fossilized remains of ancient whales embedded in the rocks. That's right, not many people know about this fascinating discovery, but it's right here under our feet. Imagine, standing in the same spot as these majestic creatures did millions of years ago. These kinds of unique features are what make the Jervis Bay Beach Hop tour so special. It's not just about seeing the famous sights and landmarks, it's about discovering the hidden treasures that make this area so unique.\n\nIf you're feeling adventurous, climb up onto the rocks and take in the breathtaking views. I promise, it's worth the effort. If you're more interested in learning about the history of the S.S. Merimbula, I can tell you about the ship's final resting place at the bottom of the ocean after a tragic fire. However, be prepared for a haunting story about the lives lost and the memories that remain.\n\nAs a tour guide, my goal is to give you an insider's perspective that only a local could provide. That's why I'm here to share my personal experiences of hiking through this stunning area or taking a late-night dip in the ocean under the stars. There's something magical about the Jervis Bay area that keeps drawing me back, and I'm excited to share that magic with you.\n\nSo, take your time at this stop, explore the area, and take in all the sights, sounds, and smells of this unique location. When you're ready, we'll move on to the next stop where you'll discover even more hidden gems."},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2F8aYnb4QKqyHMrwltwsSJ%2Fposter_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?alt=media&token=7eb8c86c-2803-4b2c-897e-ba11d2f6c065"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2F8aYnb4QKqyHMrwltwsSJ%2Fr326_254_2959_2017_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg?alt=media&token=131c7a4f-94d4-440b-9056-c755d39dfdc0"}]},{"address":"Wilsons Beach, Beecroft Peninsula NSW, Australia","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.0421,"latitudeDelta":0.0922,"latitude":-35.0038268,"longitude":150.8340884},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"# Wilson's Beach"},{"type":"text","content":"Welcome to Wilsons Beach, one of the many hidden gems along the Jervis Bay Beach Hop tour. It's a pleasure to have you here, and I’m excited to share with you all of the unique features and hidden secrets that this stop has to offer. Get ready to be mesmerized by the natural beauty and captivating stories that this place has in store. \n\nDid you know that Wilsons Beach was once the home to an undiscovered species of unique shellfish? Unfortunately, they are no longer in existence due to environmental changes, but its story is worth sharing. Standing here now, you can admire the natural beauty of the coastline, which is abundant with marine life, vibrant bird species, and rock formations that tell a tale of millions of years of geological wonder.\n\nAs the famous poet Mary Oliver once said, \"The world's a whole. A whole. Imagine that.\" Imagine how fascinating it is to stand here, where nature's elements embrace and create a masterpiece that's always been here before us and will be long after us.\n\nLooking around, take in the sensation of the fresh ocean breeze caressing your face and appreciate the sound of the waves breaking on the shore. You can take a walk along the beach or climb up to one of the lookout points for some breathtaking panoramic views. While we're here, I'll let you in on a personal story.\n\nI remember coming here with my partner, looking for a more tranquil and private place to enjoy the sunset. We were in search of a spot where we could bask in the earthy smells and listen to the whispering of nature while the sun quietly descended beneath the horizon. Sitting here with only the birds and the sand crabs as our company, one of the most romantic experiences I've ever had occurred. I'm sharing that with you to highlight that Wilsons Beach is not only nature's haven, but also a place where you can have a unique, intimate moment with your loved ones.\n\nAs we continue our journey, I encourage you to explore every corner of this beach, take a swim if you're feeling adventurous, and take in all of the experiences the place has to offer. Spend as much time as you like here, and when you're ready to move on, let me know, and we'll journey on to the next stop.\n\nSo what are you waiting for? Take your time. Explore Wilsons Beach. I bet you didn't know that this spot was named after a notorious group of smugglers who roamed these waters years ago. They would smuggle goods and, of course, lobsters, which were in high demand at the time. As [famous person] once said, 'the sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.' Standing here, with the sound of the waves crashing and the salty sea breeze on your face, it's easy to understand why Jervis Bay is considered one of the most beautiful places in Australia.\n\nAs we stand in Lobster Bay, take a moment to look around and appreciate the stunning beauty of this area. The turquoise water, the golden sands, and the verdant bushland that surrounds us - it truly is a feast for the senses. You know, I once heard someone describe this place as a natural canvas, with each stroke of nature's brush creating a masterpiece of unparalleled beauty.\n\nNow, it's time to explore this hidden gem. Take a stroll along the beach and look out for the hidden caves and rock pools that dot the coastline. Keep an eye out for the local wildlife, too. It's not uncommon to spot a pod of dolphins or a majestic eagle soaring overhead.\n\nBefore we move on to the next stop, I have a challenge for you. Can you spot the hidden sea cave that's tucked away on the far end of the bay? It's quite the sight to behold, and only the most eagle-eyed visitors will be able to find it.\n\nI hope you enjoyed your time in Lobster Bay, and that you were able to appreciate its unique beauty and significance. This hidden gem is an extraordinary experience, offering a unique and stunning part of the south NSW coastline. \n\nAs you approach the cave entrance, you'll notice the wind howling through from the ocean side, compressing and getting stronger before escaping at the entry point. The cave entry is low, requiring you to crouch down low or crawl on hands and knees to make your way through the cave. As you move further into the cave, it becomes higher and you'll notice a fracture line in the floor of the tunnel. This fracturing is what allowed the cave to form over 250-300 million years ago during the Earth's Permian Period. \n\nAs you crawl through the 30-meter tunnel, you'll notice the gap beneath you getting wider and wider until you can see the ocean waves crashing against the rocks 200m below you. Finally, you'll emerge from the cave and stand on the edge of the mainland with an incredible view of the Tasman Sea. It's a rugged coastline, with no barriers, safety rails or steps, so take care. \n\nIt's a high-risk area, so we recommend not taking pets and keeping young children very close to you. The best part? It's totally free."},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2F8aYnb4QKqyHMrwltwsSJ%2F40234502_2192543547486915_6985342794558603264_n.jpg?alt=media&token=aea39e14-6c9d-45d8-8b0d-796a120f7b85"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2F8aYnb4QKqyHMrwltwsSJ%2F202006080530137784f9137fe3-0a4b-4e5d-b5fc-2d827b04b0e7gosangstunnel_x800.jpg?alt=media&token=e15a5bb8-821b-46a6-9dfc-5a67301aae23"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2F8aYnb4QKqyHMrwltwsSJ%2F20190211_115706.jpg?alt=media&token=8888cb17-c0bf-436b-b895-9775d1e16be4"}]},{"address":"Abrahams Bosom Reserve","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.1576617659073171,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":-35.010815161123965,"longitude":150.82874325},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"Welcome to Abrahams Bosom Reserve!
