From my experience I found it very convenient to commute to different places by only walking. \n\nEach street connects to another destination and there are also under ground tunnels that help you to easily move around.\n\nLet us see some historical background of Medina with amazing facts.\nFormerly known as Yathrib, the city of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the oasis city of Medina is where he lived with his beloved companions until his death. Yathrib's foundation dates back to the 6th century BCE.\n\nMedinah, located in the Arabian Peninsula's Hejaz region, now serves as Saudi Arabia's administrative headquarters. Masjid an-Nabawi, the world's second largest mosque, is located in the holy city.\n\nMedinah, officially known as Medina al Munawwarah, is the second holiest city in Islam and the fourth largest city in western Saudi Arabia's Hejaz region, after Riyadh, Jeddah, and Makkah.\n\nThe city  is 443 kilometres (275 miles) by road from Makkah and 160 kilometres (100 miles) inland from the Red Sea. Though the city is surrounded by huge buildings, you will still find homes and markets as old as 1400 years ago. \n\nDespite being a desert city in Saudi Arabia, Medina has always been the centre of agriculture and the top producer of a variety of fruits, particularly dates, in the Arabian Peninsula. According to reports, Medinah, the world's largest producer of date palms, produces over 300 varieties of dates. The people there also let you hand pick the dates.\n"},{"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FMedina.m4a?alt=media&token=58341196-f23c-4419-a69a-631f6d2b911b"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FIMG_1995.png?alt=media&token=ea7ef00c-7760-4e41-a256-050c8807dd7e"}]},{"address":"Al Masjid an Nabawi","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.10218818160659443,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":24.467197007226094,"longitude":39.61115449999998},"media":[{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2Fimages.jpg?alt=media&token=2ca07221-3161-4315-a97e-e41c690e8a1e"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FIMG_1477.png?alt=media&token=2cbbcb89-cbfe-4e91-b982-7685bfa7bce0"},{"type":"video","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FIMG_1621.mp4?alt=media&token=b4b9c3f4-a75b-42d5-93c4-e31280b9869c"},{"type":"text","content":"Masjid Nabawi has always captivated me with its immense beauty. It is the second largest mosque in the whole world. I've compiled this list of lesser-known facts about Masjid Nabawi so that the next time you visit it, you can appreciate it even more. It is open throughout the year, regardless of date and time.\n\nThe masjid is so big that will easily take one few hours to explore it. The mosque has an graveyard of graves as old as 1400 years ago and even a museum inside it. There is also a library within the mosque. There are different gates that will lead you different paths of the mosque with a different site and history.\n\nIt was the first place in the Arabian Peninsula to have electricity installed in 1909. The mosque is overseen by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The mosque is in what was once the heart of Medina, with many hotels and old markets nearby.\n\nMasjid Nabawi was originally an open-air structure made entirely of palm trunks, beaten clay, and palm leaves. The mosque was a community centre, a court, and a religious school all rolled into one. There are 42 gates in total, all of which are made of gold.\n\nMasjid Nabawi is two stories tall and sits on 20.26 acres of land. The mosque of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) features ten minarets totaling 341 feet (104 metres), the ancient Ottoman prayer hall, two Ottoman Courtyards shaded by 12 umbrellas, Maktaba Masjid al-Nabawi (the library of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)), 27 square-base sliding domes, 42 gates, and Jannat ul-Baqi, a graveyard located on the mosque's eastern flank.\n\nRight outside each gate of the mosque there are small markets and restaurants. There is also a site of a flock of pigeons and people feeding them."},{"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FMasjid%20e%20nabwi.m4a?alt=media&token=f3660b62-204f-49d0-8ce4-b3d23aa7e06b"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FIMG_1993.png?alt=media&token=e1e51b94-0ddf-4330-9f3e-3aa7f9231670"}]},{"address":"Uhud mountain","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.10218818160659443,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":24.506638359623082,"longitude":39.61926025000003},"media":[{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FMount_Uhud.jpg?alt=media&token=9f623227-06f2-46ed-9a58-7aa93723ed90"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FMount-Uhud-Madinah-840x450.jpg?alt=media&token=98bb3327-9d01-4602-bc41-c1c7cfc1a97b"},{"type":"text","content":"Mount Uhud is a historic mountain in Saudi Arabia that rises 3533 feet to the north of Madinah. From the main Medina city and the Holy Mosque ( Masjid-e-Nabwi) it is just a few kilometers away. You can take the underground tunnel way and it will take hardly few minutes to reach the Uhud Mountain site.\n\nWalking 2 minutes in the right of mountain will lead you towards the famous Uhud Mountain cave. The cave is around 1500 plus years old and it a site not to be missed. There are also other hills and historic places nearby to see.\n\nThe mountain is well-known for being the site of the second battle between pagans and Muslims. Today, tourists and pilgrims from all over the world visit the mountain to experience its historical and spiritual significance. The mountain has historical relics, including a grand mosque in the valley. Tourists can also participate in a variety of exciting adventure activities such as rock climbing and hiking.\n\nThe mountain has many distinguishing characteristics, the most notable of which is that it is composed of volcanic rocks. Its unique landscape is made up of valleys and reefs, and the historical monuments built on it, such as imposing castles and rock engravings, date back centuries and are a popular tourist attraction.\n\nMount Uhud is located in the northern region of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, about 5 kilometres from Masjid-e-Nabawi. \n The area around the mountain has a desert climate and is very dry, due to the scorching heat winter is the best time to visit Mount Uhud. The most popular months to visit are from November to March.\n\nOnly five minutes of walk from Uhud mountain site will lead you to a big shopping centre and a small market as well."},{"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FMount%20Uhud.m4a?alt=media&token=a6c917fa-58cf-47b1-b5dc-08689b6d2ab5"},{"type":"video","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2Fuhud.mp4?alt=media&token=3e7b2795-233e-456a-a661-1c11d8c6257b"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2FIMG_1994.png?alt=media&token=8dc5e032-52a6-4acc-b9b3-229c4257b892"}]},{"address":"Museum old days","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.10218818160659443,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":24.537320507249554,"longitude":39.562193249999986},"media":[{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2F1724211-803811624.jpg?alt=media&token=7a8a214d-aece-4f3c-8bf1-61f9155c8045"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FcmSIZ0mIRyQgkwCmqSFk%2Fdar_madinah_saudi_museums_.jpg?alt=media&token=0861366c-cda4-4e59-bf08-d05b5b1d5883"},{"type":"text","content":"The first and largest museum dedicated to Almadinah's history and rich heritage. The museum focuses on the city's history, as well as its valuable heritage and great ancient civilization. \n\nThere is a tour bus that stops at Masjid-e-Nabwi after every 2 hours to take passengers to this museum and brings them back. Plus the whole ride is very pocket friendly so one should definitely avail it.\n\nThe museum has a large collection of hand-built models that show simulations of the city's actual old landmarks, as well as a large collection of back pieces and back shoots of the city and its history.\n\nThe museum documents the landscape and demonstrates how the city has survived, evolved, and shaped over time. It is privately owned and operated by Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Rahman bin Ibrahim Kaki and is known in Arabic as Mutahaf Dar al-Madinah (). The authorities launched a project in 1983 to convert Al-Hejaz Railway Station into Al-Madinah Museum. It also included the establishment of the Hejaz Railway Museum on the property.\n\n The museum contains over 2,000 artifacts and depicts the evolution of a simple house into the Al Masjid Un Nabawi. It has at least 14 halls, each of which tells an interesting story about past eras' culture, heritage, and lifestyle.\n\nOutside the museum, just 5 minutes walk away is a small dates market within a date garden where there are huge palms. This is one of the rarest places people know about.\n\nThe whole tour can be even done in one day, each stops connects to another in a smooth manner.
