Get ready to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of one of the most beautiful gardens in NSW!\n\nDid you know that the garden was established in 1964? That's more than half a century ago! Since then, it has been a favourite spot for locals and tourists alike to enjoy a peaceful stroll, taking in all the colours and scents from the many different plants.\n\nAs a lover of nature and flowers, this garden has a special place in my heart. I love coming here to take photos and just relax in the peaceful surroundings. I've even had a few picnics here with my friends, enjoying the sunshine and good company.\n\nNow, take a look around you. The beautiful landscaping, the winding paths, and the various gardens each with their own unique features. One of the highlights of this garden is the ancient fig tree near the entrance. This enormous tree has graced the garden for decades and continues to be a favourite spot for visitors to take photos and appreciate its sheer size.\n\nI bet you didn't know that this garden is home to over 2000 plants from all over the world! From the magnolias to the roses, there's always something in bloom no matter what time of year it is. Keep an eye out for the colourful butterflies and native birds that call this garden home too.\n\nAs someone who loves photography, I can attest to the fact that this garden is one of the most picturesque in the area. Make sure you have your cameras ready because there will be plenty of photo-ops here!\n\nTake your time to explore this beautiful garden and appreciate all the hard work that goes into maintaining it. And when you're ready, we'll move on to the next stop in our tour. Until then, just enjoy the moment and the beauty around us.\n\n"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FsIbfdO8t7nY4Q89HCIqX%2Fstop_0_1.jpeg?alt=media&token=de1a8dc9-1927-4992-b91e-1a43f3eefc17"}]},{"address":"University of Wollongong, Wollongong campus, Northfields Ave, Wollongong NSW, Australia","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.0421,"latitudeDelta":0.0922,"latitude":-34.4054039,"longitude":150.87843},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"Welcome to the University of Wollongong, where knowledge and innovation are nurtured! As we stand here, surrounded by some of the most cutting-edge research facilities, did you know that the University of Wollongong has produced some of the world's most respected scientists, engineers and business leaders? \n\nAs the saying goes, \"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today\". That's why this university has become such an important part of the Wollongong community. People come from all over the world to study here. And who knows, you might be standing in the footsteps of a future Nobel laureate! \n\nAs we walk around the campus, take a moment to absorb the sights and sounds. I want you to feel like a student for a day, exploring this bustling hub of academia. Did you know that the university also has a strong focus on sustainability? Keep an eye out for the solar panels and the wind turbines that help power the campus.\n\nAs someone with an interest in architecture, I find the modern, dynamic design of the buildings really fascinating. However, as we go around, why don't we also talk about some of the history of the university? I once heard that the original building on this site was formerly a teachers' college back in the 1950s. Now, every time I come here, I'm constantly amazed at how much this place has grown and evolved!\n\nAs we get ready to move onto the next stop, remember there are plenty of places to explore on this campus. Feel free to wander and take a closer look at some of the research being conducted at the various faculties. And of course, keep an eye out for all the hidden gems that make UOW a truly unique place to visit. Let's continue on our journey!"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FsIbfdO8t7nY4Q89HCIqX%2Fstop_1_1.jpeg?alt=media&token=41d69035-b422-4867-b03c-efdc46cef6c1"}]},{"address":"Pioneers Rest Park, Banks Rd, Wollongong NSW, Australia","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.0421,"latitudeDelta":0.0922,"latitude":-34.42914399999999,"longitude":150.8969784},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"Welcome to Pioneers Rest Park! We have arrived at one of the most beloved places in Wollongong, where history meets nature. Have you ever wondered what it was like living back in the day when pioneers were the first to settle in Wollongong? Well, now is your chance to take a step back in time and see for yourself.\n\nAs a local tour guide, I have always been interested in the history and culture of this beautiful city. When I was a child, my grandpa used to take me to this park, where he would tell me stories of the pioneers and their journey to Wollongong. It's amazing to know that we are standing in the very same spot where these pioneers would rest and catch their breaths.\n\nAs a matter of fact, did you know that this park is also a sacred site for the Aboriginal people? This land holds significant cultural and spiritual value to them, so let's show our respect as we explore this park.\n\nTake a look around and notice how beautiful this park is, with its meandering paths, wide-open spaces, and lush garden beds filled with blooming flowers. The serenity and tranquillity of this place are simply breathtaking, a perfect haven for nature lovers, gardeners and photographers alike.\n\nIf you're a history enthusiast, then you'll want to stick around and check out the Pioneer Memorial Wall. This wall honours the pioneers who helped shape Wollongong into the city it is today. It's amazing to see the names of these brave men and women who came from different walks of life and settled here in pursuit of a better life.\n\nAs the famous author Henry David Thoreau once said, \"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.\" So take your time to see, explore and enjoy all that Pioneers Rest Park has to offer.\n\nIf you are ready to move on, then let's continue our journey together. Take your time to absorb all the beautiful moments and memories of this park, and I'll see you at the next stop.\n\n"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FsIbfdO8t7nY4Q89HCIqX%2FPXL_20230220_083639010.jpg?alt=media&token=2bb24c51-1757-47d5-8c9b-eabd0ae8eac0"}]},{"address":"Wollongong Breakwater Lighthouse, Wollongong NSW, Australia","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.0421,"latitudeDelta":0.0922,"latitude":-34.419669,"longitude":150.9068077},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"Welcome to the Wollongong Breakwater Lighthouse! Can you guess how long it took to build this structure? Believe it or not, it took 18 months to complete! I bet you didn't know that.\n\nAs we stand here in front of this historical lighthouse, I can't help but imagine what it was like for the lighthouse keepers who worked here over the years. As the famous author, L.M. Montgomery once said, \"my pen shall tell of lighthouses fair,\nwith ever-burning lamps in high, that guarded sailors through tempestuous hours\". This sentiment couldn't be more true for the Wollongong Breakwater Lighthouse.\n\nFun fact, this lighthouse is actually the third to stand on this site, with the original dating back to 1871.\n\nPersonally, I have always been fascinated by this stop on the tour. It's hard not to be captivated by the charm of the lighthouse and the history behind it.\n\nI encourage you to take some time here to explore the surrounding area as well, there's much more to see beyond the lighthouse! Take a stroll along the breakwater and enjoy the beautiful views of the coastline.\n\nAlright, if you're ready to move on to our next stop, just let me know! We have so much more to see on our tour of Wollongong.\n\n"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FsIbfdO8t7nY4Q89HCIqX%2Fstop_3_1.jpeg?alt=media&token=18858831-8f7c-4c4b-9e32-f9b4010a95df"}]}]
