The reason I took us here is because of what is being built. It's going to be the new headquarters of Atlassian.\n\nAtlassian was founded in 2002 by Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, two friends from Sydney, Australia. They started the company with the goal of creating innovative software to help teams collaborate and work more effectively together. The company's first product was JIRA, a project management tool, which quickly gained popularity among software developers and became the cornerstone of Atlassian's product portfolio. Over the years, the company has expanded its offerings to include other tools such as Confluence, Bitbucket, Trello, and many others, becoming a leading provider of collaboration and productivity tools for teams across a wide range of industries.\n\nAtlassian has built a reputation for having a strong company culture that emphasizes teamwork, transparency, and innovation. The company values its employees and encourages a work-life balance, with perks such as flexible working hours, unlimited paid time off, and regular company outings. Atlassian also places a strong emphasis on sustainability, and has a goal to become carbon neutral by 2025.\n\nThis new building is designed to be cutting-edge, sustainable and innovative. One of its key features is its use of mass timber construction, which is a type of construction that uses solid wood panels as the main structural material. This is a departure from traditional construction methods and has numerous environmental benefits, such as lower greenhouse gas emissions and a reduced carbon footprint compared to concrete and steel construction.\n\nThe building will also feature sustainable design elements such as green roofs, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems. The design of the building will also prioritize flexibility and collaboration, with features such as adaptable workspaces, communal areas, and shared resources. These design elements reflect Atlassian's commitment to sustainability and its values of collaboration and innovation.\n\nNow, let's take a stroll through Chinatown to our next stop the UTS Business Building.\n\n"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2FAtlassian.jpeg?alt=media&token=75a9143f-bc7a-4e68-88d1-e0a7f3a127e8"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2Fc4e348f26bf83e65164310821c0ff12e.jpeg?alt=media&token=5f072d54-cfb4-42ee-9600-9fdd67e1aff9"}]},{"address":"UTS Business School (Building 8)","ttsFile":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2Ftts_3.mp3?alt=media&token=0d8e6904-045d-46d6-a724-f065bb93540d","placeId":null,"location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":-33.88112736066353,"longitude":151.20144085},"media":[{"type":"place","content":{"types":["establishment","point_of_interest","university"],"formatted_address":"UTS, Building 8, Platform 14/28 Ultimo Rd, Ultimo NSW 2007, Australia","partial_match":true,"geometry":{"viewport":{"east":151.2027913802915,"south":-33.88248258029149,"north":-33.8797846197085,"west":151.2000934197085},"location":{"lng":151.2013705,"lat":-33.8810017},"location_type":"ROOFTOP"},"address_components":[{"types":["subpremise"],"short_name":"Platform 14","long_name":"Platform 14"},{"types":["establishment","point_of_interest"],"short_name":"UTS","long_name":"UTS"},{"types":["premise"],"short_name":"Building 8","long_name":"Building 8"},{"types":["street_number"],"short_name":"28","long_name":"28"},{"types":["route"],"short_name":"Ultimo Rd","long_name":"Ultimo Road"},{"types":["locality","political"],"short_name":"Ultimo","long_name":"Ultimo"},{"types":["administrative_area_level_2","political"],"short_name":"City of Sydney","long_name":"City of Sydney"},{"types":["administrative_area_level_1","political"],"short_name":"NSW","long_name":"New South Wales"},{"types":["country","political"],"short_name":"AU","long_name":"Australia"},{"types":["postal_code"],"short_name":"2007","long_name":"2007"}],"plus_code":{"compound_code":"4692+HG Ultimo NSW, Australia","global_code":"4RRH4692+HG"},"place_id":"ChIJzb5jMySuEmsRJd-P2LAyntc"}},{"ttsForStop":false,"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2Fsynthesized_audio%20(4).mp3?alt=media&token=ea5fd079-00b3-4c56-b30d-3fdb0733ddc4"},{"type":"text","content":"We're now standing in front of the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building at UTS, designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry. This building is known for its innovative and unconventional design, which features a series of undulating, billowing forms that create a dynamic and fluid appearance.\n\nOne of the things that make this building so innovative is its use of materials. The building is constructed primarily of concrete, glass, and steel, and these materials have been carefully shaped and arranged to create a sense of movement and energy. This is particularly evident in the building's unique façade, which is comprised of more than 1,000 individually shaped glass panels that seem to ripple and flow.\n\nAnother key feature of this building is its integration of technology and sustainability. For example, the building is equipped with a sophisticated energy management system that helps to reduce its carbon footprint, and it also incorporates a number of environmentally friendly design elements, such as green roofs and rainwater harvesting systems.\n\nThe Dr Chau Chak Wing Building is an integral part of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) campus and is primarily used to house the UTS Business School. The Business School offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in areas such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, and entrepreneurship.\n\nIn addition to traditional classroom and lecture spaces, the building also features a number of cutting-edge learning facilities, including a trading room, an innovation lab, and various collaboration spaces that encourage students to work together and develop their ideas. The building is also home to a number of research centres, such as the UTS Centre for Business and Social Innovation, which focuses on developing innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing social and environmental challenges.\n\nSo, to sum up, the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building is a hub for business education and research at UTS, providing students and faculty with the resources and facilities they need to succeed in today's rapidly changing global economy.\n\nNow let's head to the next stop The Goods Line and travel through time to the mid-19th Century turn around and find the stairs leading up to the elevated walkway.\n\n"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2FUTS-Business-School-by-Frank-Gehry_dezeen_784_15.jpeg?alt=media&token=8744b61e-3afd-4bdd-96bf-01be6c3c8ce1"}]},{"address":"29B Ultimo Rd","ttsFile":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2Ftts_4.mp3?alt=media&token=ff94cf63-a405-4cda-aa4b-169a8306ab1d","placeId":null,"location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":-33.88132433573378,"longitude":151.20188437803182},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"# The Goods Line"},{"ttsForStop":false,"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2Fsynthesized_audio%20(5).mp3?alt=media&token=1ea73049-bbac-4e7d-8be1-969ded5f2330"},{"type":"text","content":"We made it hopefully you took the stairs, and now we'll take a stroll along The Goods Line, a pedestrian network that runs through Ultimo and connects some of the city's most interesting landmarks. The Goods Line was built on the site of an old rail line and has been transformed into a vibrant public space with parks, gardens, and walking and bike paths. This is a great place to take a break, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city.\n\nThe Goods Line has a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century when it was used as a busy freight rail system transporting goods from Dulwich Hill to Sydney Central and Darling Harbour. In the years following its official closure in 1984, the line was occasionally used by steam locomotives to transport goods between the Powerhouse Museum and Darling Harbour. Some parts of the old line were also re-purposed for the Sydney Light Railway.\n\nIn 2015, the Goods Line underwent a major transformation as part of an urban renewal project, turning it into a pedestrian walkway, park, and public space. The project was inspired by the success of the High Line in New York City, which transformed a section of an historic Manhattan freight line into a public park and walkway.\n\nThe newly transformed Goods Line features a range of innovative amenities, including bike paths, table tennis tables, study pods, outdoor work spaces, and playgrounds. It also includes a large, bright yellow communal table where visitors can sit and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. The walkway passes by several important educational, cultural, and media institutions, including the University of Technology Sydney and the Powerhouse Museum.\n\nOne of the standout features of the Goods Line is the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building at the University of Technology Sydney, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry. The building, which was constructed using 320,000 custom-designed bricks, has a unique and eye-catching design that resembles a squashed brown paper bag. The Goods Line also features the Ultimo Road railway underbridge, the oldest iron bridge in Australia, built in 1879 and now adorned with a neon-lit \"The Goods Line\" sign.\n\nOverall, the Goods Line is a great example of urban renewal and innovation, taking a former industrial area and turning it into a vibrant and pleasant public space for everyone to enjoy.\n\nNow lets go to the Powerhouse Museum\n\n"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2FDSC01361.jpg?alt=media&token=4e478ac3-93bb-40e1-8d8f-718a914431fd"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2FThe%20Good%20Lines%201.jpeg?alt=media&token=1cfa1a84-012a-49ca-a14c-97a48d946087"}]},{"address":"Powerhouse Museum","ttsFile":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2Ftts_5.mp3?alt=media&token=22bdbda8-6781-4772-91ef-4ca2fe3eb28b","placeId":null,"location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":-33.87874696066254,"longitude":151.19944595},"media":[{"type":"place","content":{"formatted_address":"500 Harris St, Ultimo NSW 2007, Australia","types":["establishment","museum","point_of_interest","tourist_attraction"],"partial_match":true,"geometry":{"viewport":{"east":151.2007949302915,"south":-33.8800959302915,"north":-33.8773979697085,"west":151.1980969697085},"location":{"lng":151.1995418,"lat":-33.878518},"location_type":"ROOFTOP"},"address_components":[{"types":["street_number"],"short_name":"500","long_name":"500"},{"types":["route"],"short_name":"Harris St","long_name":"Harris Street"},{"types":["locality","political"],"short_name":"Ultimo","long_name":"Ultimo"},{"types":["administrative_area_level_2","political"],"short_name":"City of Sydney","long_name":"City of Sydney"},{"types":["administrative_area_level_1","political"],"short_name":"NSW","long_name":"New South Wales"},{"types":["country","political"],"short_name":"AU","long_name":"Australia"},{"types":["postal_code"],"short_name":"2007","long_name":"2007"}],"plus_code":{"compound_code":"45CX+HR Ultimo NSW, Australia","global_code":"4RRH45CX+HR"},"place_id":"ChIJwbKbCiWuEmsRgBXuDPx5lJ0"}},{"ttsForStop":false,"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FgaRhfrVe6WUnQNoaYRwO%2Fsynthesized_audio%20(6).mp3?alt=media&token=7fff0ed3-4742-442c-80f7-b546f3cb8e28"},{"type":"text","content":"We have arrived at the Powerhouse Museum is located in the heart of the central/UTS area of Sydney and is one of the most unique and innovative cultural institutions in the country.\n\nIt's completely free to enter to lets go in.\n\nIt was established in 1988 and moved into its current building, a former power station, in 1994. The exhibitions are designed to be both educational and interactive, making them a great learning experience for visitors of all ages. For students studying at UTS, the Powerhouse Museum offers a wealth of information and hands-on experiences that can enhance their understanding of their field of study and help them make connections between the subjects they are learning and the real world.\n\nFor example, students studying engineering or industrial design can see how technology has evolved over the years and how it has impacted society, while students studying fashion or textile design can learn about the history of fashion and see how it has changed and evolved over time. Additionally, students studying any field can take advantage of the museum's interactive exhibits and hands-on activities to gain a deeper understanding of the subjects they are learning about.\n\nIn short, the Powerhouse Museum is a must-visit destination for students at UTS, as it offers a unique opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and innovation of Sydney and Australia. Take a moment to soak up the sights and sounds of this wonderful open space, surrounded by some of the most iconic buildings on campus.\n\nAnd speaking of iconic, let me introduce you to one of the most innovative features of the Alumni Green - its state-of-the-art book retrieval system, which is located underneath our feet. This system allows students to access over a million books from the library with just a few taps on a screen. It's a cutting-edge solution to the age-old problem of finding a specific book in a large library, and it's a testament to UTS's commitment to providing its students with the best possible resources.\n\nJust look around us, and you'll see what makes this campus special. Over here, we have the towering UTS Tower, a testament to cutting-edge design and engineering. And over there, the historic Goods Shed North, a reminder of the site's rich history as a bustling hub for goods and trains.\n\nThis mix of modern and historic architecture creates a dynamic and inspiring environment, perfect for learning, exploration, and discovery. So as you walk around the UTS campus, take a moment to appreciate the beauty and innovation of the Alumni Green and its surrounding buildings. They are an integral part of the university experience, and they embody the spirit of creativity and progress that drives UTS forward.\n\nAnd finally, I want to thank you all for joining me on this tour of the UTS and its surrounding area. I hope you have enjoyed learning about this beautiful and innovative space, and I hope that you have gained a deeper appreciation for what makes the UTS campus so special.\n\nAs you continue your journey at UTS, I wish you all the best of luck.
