Did you know that this is the oldest bridge in Toulouse, built over 350 years ago? That's right, you're standing in the footsteps of history!\n\nAs a famous person once said, \"A bridge can still be built to last a thousand years, despite all the pressure put on it.\" And that's exactly what the builders of Pont Saint-Pierre achieved!\n\nI once heard a story about how during World War II, German soldiers had planned to blow up this bridge as a strategic move. But the villagers joined forces and managed to dismantle the explosives before they could cause any harm. It's amazing to think about the bravery and determination of those villagers during such a dark time in history.\n\nBut let's not dwell on the past too much! Take a look around and admire the beautiful architecture of this bridge. Notice the intricate details in the stonework and the way the light hits the river below. You're in for a treat when you take your photographs here!\n\nAs a local, I highly recommend taking a walk along the banks of the Garonne River, which this bridge crosses. You'll get a spectacular view of the city and see some of the most breathtaking scenery in Toulouse. Also, don't forget to scan the area and look for any hidden gems or unique features that this stop has to offer.\n\nI hope you enjoyed our visit to Pont Saint-Pierre, but there's still plenty more to explore on our journey. Take your time to absorb the history and beauty of this stop, and let me know when you're ready to move on to the next one.\n\n"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fj8hIvzEaGVYvAbwyd4m5%2FLwcnrgLSmkrGcWvVcoPxuNst9mW7X7HAB2TBfJhW.jpg?alt=media&token=a958c6f1-5856-4962-b4d6-ac70b3a3475c"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fj8hIvzEaGVYvAbwyd4m5%2Fimage.jpg?alt=media&token=b6a317d4-e75a-4d90-8f93-435d2c6874f9"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fj8hIvzEaGVYvAbwyd4m5%2Ffylqypqx0aarbcb_5_1125.webp?alt=media&token=16250b39-1ce2-44e3-9013-56c6d3a11268"}]},{"address":"Couvent des Jacobins","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.18501439196141306,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":43.60337536512439,"longitude":1.4403756499999876},"media":[{"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fj8hIvzEaGVYvAbwyd4m5%2F0401%20(1).mp3?alt=media&token=600901bb-b517-43ab-8a84-8877093c1fd2"},{"type":"text","content":"Welcome to The Church of the Jacobins, one of the most fascinating and unique landmarks in Toulouse, France! Did you know that this impressive Gothic-style church was built in the 13th century and was originally a convent for the Dominican order of friars?\n\nAs you walk around, you'll also notice the beautiful stained glass windows that flood the space with mesmerizing light. So take your time to explore and admire the stunning architecture and artistry of this historic church.\n\nThe Church of the Jacobins is also known for being the final resting place of Saint Thomas Aquinas, a prominent philosopher and theologian of the Catholic Church. His tomb is located in the chapel of the Virgin, which features some of the most impressive frescoes in the church. These frescoes depict scenes from the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and were painted by the Italian artist Francesco Rustici in the 14th century.\n\nAnother interesting fact about The Church of the Jacobins is that it was used as a prison during the French Revolution. Many political prisoners were kept here, including the famous revolutionary leader Maximilien Robespierre. You can still see some of the markings made by the prisoners on the walls of the church, which serve as a stark reminder of its dark past.\n\nOverall, The Church of the Jacobins is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, art, and architecture.
