Afterwards the set was demolished, but when the movies were released to enormous success, fans were keen to visit the site.\n\nSo when Peter Jackson returned to film The Hobbit trilogy in 2009, this time they decided to build a permanent set of 44 Hobbit Holes and the Green Dragon Inn. In 2012 the Hobbiton Movie Set opened to the public for tours.\n"},{"metadata":{"width":746,"height":498},"type":"img","version":1,"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FLgHESTDoi4hPezCDPgdn%2Fstop_0_2.png?alt=media&token=109ef81a-2960-4d2c-84c3-5cb2f3d4e9d0"}]},{"address":"3472,Matamata","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.0007156717027783088,"latitudeDelta":0.0007232615955672372,"latitude":-37.85788764992163,"longitude":175.68053246320267},"media":[{"metadata":{"width":746,"height":498},"type":"img","version":1,"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FLgHESTDoi4hPezCDPgdn%2Fstop_2_1.png?alt=media&token=4e2df9f8-1abd-4945-9ac3-392e927acce1"},{"type":"text","content":"\nThe Hobbiton Village Tour\nThe two-hour tour begins with a short bus ride from The Shire’s Rest to the farm.
